This is a liquor store located just off the east exit of JR Kumamoto Railway Station and across the street where Kumamoto tram passes. It used to only sell sake, but “kakuuchi (serving alcoholic drinks at standing bar counters attached to liquor stores)” style bar was opened in the store to let people know more about delicious sake and shochu of Kumamoto. In addition to carefully selected sake and shochu, you can also enjoy a variety of alcoholic drinks such as highball using Kuma Shochu, a set of 3 kinds of Kumamoto’s sake (800yen) which the store owner recommends. Highball of Kuma Shochu or beer are also served. Kuma Shochu can be enjoyed not only from the bottles but also from the “kame (earthenware pots)”. There are also finger foods good to those sake and shochu. Have extra time to your train schedule and stop by this store.
